Here in Blacksburg, a few trees are just starting to color a few of their leaves. There are several things going on this weekend - dancing, yoga, and celebrating the Equinox. There is an upcoming seminar at the Blacksburg Library on acupuncture, and an announcement about classes offered through the YMCA Open U. For more information on the dances, call Paula at 953-5587. Global Mala Project, Roanoke Event, Sunday, 9/23, 4pmChrist Episcopal Church, 1101 Franklin Road, SW. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m., with 30 minutes of children's yoga (ages 5 and up); from 4:30 to 5:15 we will do sun salutations that will be modified for beginners or those with physical limitations. From 5:15 to 6:00 we will do full sun salutations. We hope to accomplish 108 sun salutations (as a whole). Equinox Celebration, Sunday, 9/23, 4pmFire Circle at 4:00 PM with pot luck dinner to follow. Join us as we mark another quarter turn of the wheel of our year. Seasonal celebrations are a chance to step out of our day-to-day lives, check in with our inner guidance, and share our intentions with community. Fall Equinox is a time of balance, when day and night length are equal. Monthly Lecture Series on Alternative and Natural Healthcare at Blacksburg Public Library - Next Lecture - 10/10, 7pmAcupuncture and Chinese Medicine - Victoria Taylor, a Licensed Acupuncturist, will share her knowledge of how Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine can improve organ function, decrease pain, stimulate the immune system and regulate hormonal balance and much more, by working with the energies of the body’s functions. An Acupuncture demonstration will be made available.Blacksburg Public Library Open University CoursesThe YMCA Open University in Blacksburg is offering classes in a new Outdoor and Environment category, including Hybrid vehicles and Climate Change and the Home Gardener.
